Better picture of a mural I did in 2011 for the G40 show in Washington DC. It was on display at the 2012 G40 show too. Thanks Shane at Art Whino for the better photo.
Here’s a few shots showing how I painted the mural. I first started with a sketched out plan, gridded in 2x2 unit squares. The mural is painted on 2x2 foot hardboard panels. I painted them with a layer of gesso then used the gridded sketch as a guide to draw the contents of each panel. Next I did a wash of Quinacridone Burnt Orange to give a consistent base to all the panels. Then it was just a matter of painting them. Starting at the bottom left corner, I painted 2 panels at a time on my easel in order to keep them consistent from panel to panel. Oh and you can see my dog Buster in the third image (for a sense of scale :D )
Enjoy!
